About

Mark J. D. Herbert

Mark has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Philosophy and Psychology from St. John’s University. The combination of his academic background, lifelong personal research and study in the health and fitness field is what resulted in Mark’s approach to overall health and physical fitness.

C.H.E.K. Holistic Lifestyle CoachFunctional Investigative Testing (F.I.T) is the key to uncovering hidden influences.  Mark has been providing detailing testing for his clients for over 10 years, and it shows in their healing and overall improvement. The journey of balancing all aspects of a person’s physiology is what allows a complete wellness to emerge, which is the foundation of life resilience, vitality and sustainable happiness.

In 1991, Mark moved to Austin to start his practice and, in 1999, began his training as a CHEK Practitioner. A full decade later, in 2009, he completed his Level IV C.H.E.K. Practitioner training, making him one of an elite group of practitioners worldwide to achieve this level of credentialed expertise.

As a CHEK Institute-trained professional and innovator, Mark offers a system that is highly targeted and very personalized; his multi-discipline approach is the key to his clients’ success.

C.H.E.K. PractitionerUsing a highly-customized toolbox of solutions, Mark is able to approach common issues such as: back pain, core musculature weakness, fatigue, body fat issues, improving G.I. health, sports and / or quality of life enhancement through non-traditional routes of wellness.

He believes that the body can be assisted to heal and repair itself when all aspects of health are activated. This includes working with the physical body, through E.L.D.O.A., Core balancing, strength training, myofascial stretching, and advanced nutritional recommendations.

Throughout his training, he has expanded his skills set by studying under Doctors of Osteopathy, Medical Doctors, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, and Nutrition Experts.  He invested 10 years in enhancing his knowledge by learning the Kalish Method. Dr. Daniel Kalish’s system of Functional Medicine greatly enhanced Mark’s 20+ years of working with people’s health goals.

Mark’s approach to health and fitness is based on using science to create effective programs; detailed initial assessments that help determine your baseline condition and direct exercise programming.  He also offers simple lab testing for powerful guidance on deeper metabolic issues.

Mark creates a customized program based on the client’s needs and lifestyle; a program or the results can be optimized by learning his (un)common sense approach to nutrition, use of supplements and lifestyle. No two people ever have the exact same program.
